RPO Bhopal Processes Record 3 Lakh+ Passport Applications in 2025

Bhopal Digital Desk – Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs visited the Regional Passport Office, Bhopal and reviewed the passport and related services being provided by the office. During the visit, he undertook a detailed inspection of the newly constructed RPO building and reviewed various citizen-centric facilities including the Grievance Cell, Child Care Room, Library, “Wall of Fame” and other public-oriented amenities available for applicants.
On this occasion, Regional Passport Officer Shitanshu Chaurasiya welcomed and greeted Kirti Vardhan Singh MoS. He informed the MoS that the Regional Passport Office, Bhopal had processed an unprecedented 3 lakh “+” passport applications in 2025. He further stated that, from a geographical perspective, it is the largest passport office in the country and is also among the fastest-growing passport office. Over the past three years, the Regional Passport Office, Bhopal has expanded its network from 19 offices to 28 offices, including the newly constructed RPO building and PSK Indore, thereby extending passport services to a larger population across the State.


The MoS was also apprised of the innovative initiatives being undertaken by the office in the areas of citizen awareness and public outreach. He was informed that the Regional Passport Office, Bhopal has developed various awareness and publicity materials incorporating Sign Language videos and information in Braille script to ensure that passport-related information is accessible to hearing and visually impaired citizens. In addition, a Comic Book Initiative has also been launched to simplify passport-related information and make services more citizen-friendly and accessible. All these steps have been taken for the first time by any RPO.
Kirti Vardhan Singh MoS was informed that a Proactive Vigilance Mechanism is being implemented through random interaction with applicants to ensure service quality and transparency. The office has also introduced proactive monitoring and timely disposal of pending and hold cases. Further, Vigilance Workshops are being organized periodically to sensitize officers and staff regarding vigilance, transparency and standards of citizen service delivery. On this occasion, the Minister of State for External Affairs also planted an Amaltas sapling in the office premises under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.”


The MoS appreciated the innovative initiatives, office expansion efforts, inclusive facilities such as the citizen-centric functioning of the office. He commended the dedication, efficiency and service-oriented approach of the officers and staff, and emphasized the importance of maintaining quality and transparency in citizen services.
